We celebrated Daniel’s entry into his second decade. He turned a big 10 years old this year. We went to Laser Quest in Federal Way and had pizza at Snoose Junction afterwards – a winning combination!

Labor Day with Hazel and Simon

We took a long weekend trip with Hazel and Simon. We met up in Bremerton and the girls made a friend on another boat – Piper. All had tons of fun.

Skiing with Girls

I took three lovely girls skiing yesterday. Camille had been asking to take friends with her for a long time. Who am I to say no?

We went to Cabin Creek in Snoqualmie Pass. The conditions were soft and warm, but very skiable.

Thanksgiving 2010

In a continuing tradition, we had the Yang/Williams over for T-day. In a remarkable turn of events, I actually cooked a turkey!

Today was a holiday from school and there was no childcare. Molly had the day off, as did I. So, it was a perfect day for this birthday recipe:

Take 1 girl turning 11 (and very excited about it).
Invite the entire fifth grade class, boys and girls, alike.
Secure a gymnasium at the Ballard Boys and Girls Club with lots of balls.
Hire a B&G counselor with skills in games and herding kids.
Admit kids with hormones (they’re fifth graders!).

Mix for two solid hours until multiple injuries occur and kids sweat a lot.

The result – much happiness!!! ;) There were also a few scrapes, bruises, and heightened emotions, but that was expected.

There was cake, of course, but that was scarfed down at the end in less than 10 minutes.

Pumpkin Carving Party

I am a fool. Camille and her many (and I really mean many) friends were planning a party to carve pumpkins. Lila wanted to host, but couldn’t. So, fool that I am, wanting to facilitate my daughter’s rich social life, offered to host the party. It exhausted me. Here are the results.

Trip to Blake Island with Friends

We owed our friends a better boat trip. They came with us last New Year’s Day on a harrowing adventure in 20+ knot winds and short, choppy 3-4 foot seas to retrieve our forlorn crab pots which, according to law, needed to be out of the water. In retrospect, I think WDFW would have given us a reprieve until the next day.

We had a very good time. The weather was hot and sunny and the kids played well together (mostly).
