We are at the 2010 Raser family reunion at Golden Bell Camp and Conference Center, just out of Divide, CO. Here are a few snaps from the last few day’s photos. All are descendants of Rudy and Myra Raser, or those of us who chose to marry in.

Nico races a crit

We have a fabulous little nephew. Nico takes after his parents, racing in a local criterium. For the kids, it’s just one lap. But Nico, wearing cowboy boots, takes the cake for me. He does a great job. Check it out.

Riding South from Jackson

With a heavy heart, we left Nico, Robin, and Brian behind in Jackson, WY and headed to a family reunion of Molly’s mother’s family just outside of Divide, CO at the Golden Bell Camp & Conference Center. On the way, we went via the desolate southwestern Wyoming and stayed the night in Vernal, UT. On the way, we went through Flaming Gorge. This morning, we left Vernal on a hot an sunny day and screamed at high speed (don’t tell the sheriff) to Colorado. We stopped in Steamboat Springs for a mid-day swim and lunch. I swam laps and the kids played.

Riding Horses with Nico

Yesterday, we rode horses with Nico and his folks. As we were on top of the butte with spectacular views, thunderstorms rolled in. We were hit with a microburst that blew 20 kts+. The kids were troopers and braved forward.

Day Trip to Yellowstone

Robin treated us to a day trip up to Yellowstone from Jackson. We saw lots of thermal features, including geysers, fumeroles, hot springs, and a few mud pots. Old Geyser spouted off for us.

On the way home, we saw a cinnamon colored brown bear, a collared cougar, many bison, lots of elk, and some deer.

Visiting Cousins in Jackson

We flew to Idaho Falls, rented a car, and drove to Jackson, WY to visit my sister Robin, her husband Brian, and my little nephew Nico. The weather was sunny and hot.

Father’s Day 2010

We usually have a Father’s Day picnic. This year, the weather sucked! It was a steady light rain and the outdoor plans were squashed. So, Molly suggested a picnic on the Bremerton ferry with a short outing in Bremerton. It was a lovely idea. After being feted at breakfast, we trudged downtown.

Aerial Recital and Aerialistas Fundraiser

Camille, my favorite Junior Aerialista, performed yet again in front a very appreciative audience. Partly because of my pressure, Lara Paxton Raspberry, her teacher, agreed to put together an event to showcase her students – 5 kids and 3 adults. She tied it together with a fundraiser for the Aerialistas big break – a professional tour in Spain. They will be paid, but not well. It was synergistic; Camille got an audience and the Aerialistas got some cash.

As a bonus, Camille’s grandmother (my mother Helen) was in attendance. Also, Camille had strong support from her friends, Kasey, Sarah and Lucy. Sarah was her aerial partner earlier in the year.

Jeff got picked from the audience to be a juggling “volunteer”. It must be his congenial manner that made it happen.

Visit with Tami and CalTech

The day I arrive in SoCal, we went to visit with Molly’s old friend Tami. Tami’s husband Jess is a professor at CalTech. CalTech is one of my alma maters, so I requested a nostalgia tour. Jess obliged me while the kids played on the beautiful grounds.

Last week, we visited Molly’s family in Los Angeles. The kids and Molly went early and took in a visit to Magic Mountain (see separate post). I joined them on Thursday.

Poppa Ron’s visit – part two

Poppa Ron came to visit us from SoCal. He was gracious enough to take us out to a delicious Vietnamese restaurant in Belltown called Long Provincial. It was excellent and not at all provincial (with a small ‘p’).

Camille also made him a special pillow with fabric his money purchased.
