We went off today to catch Christmas crabs. We brought home five keepers!
There was a sea star in each trap. One trap held six male crabs, five were keepers. The other had just the sea star.
We reset the traps. We’ll be back for more this weekend.

We finished up some the below the waterline repairs last week.  Here are the pictures.
We were put into the water today, but the engine didn’t start.  After much warming and time passing, it was a no go.  I finally discovered the problem when I drained a cup of water out of the “Racor” fuel filter.  [...]

The previous owner of our boat didn’t admit to anything wrong with the boat.  When we had the survey (think out-of-the-water inspection), we discovered major damage to the bottom of the keel.  There was also a “smile” (if you look at the boat from the front, it appears to be ’smiling’) at the front of [...]

We hauled Santosha out of the water for a bottom painting and maintenance.  There was plenty of damage from what the previous owner called a “soft landing” on a well known and well marked rocky reef in the San Juan Islands.  “Soft landing”, my foot!  It appears that barnacle encrusted rocks just raked the keel.

Here is the last of the vacation photos. For the last three nights we stayed at Spencer Spit, Port Townsend, and Port Ludlow. At Spencer Spit, Molly and Camille walked (again) to Horse Drawn Farm to get some more veggies and meat. All essentially organic and free range, of course.
