Daniel came home with a small model of a cardboard boomerang and decided to scale it up about 10x. Here is the result. It flies quite well.

Skiing with Girls

I took three lovely girls skiing yesterday. Camille had been asking to take friends with her for a long time. Who am I to say no?

We went to Cabin Creek in Snoqualmie Pass. The conditions were soft and warm, but very skiable.

Nico races a crit

We have a fabulous little nephew. Nico takes after his parents, racing in a local criterium. For the kids, it’s just one lap. But Nico, wearing cowboy boots, takes the cake for me. He does a great job. Check it out.

Camille continues her love of aerial performance. Her teacher Lara Paxton helped put together a performance in their new studio space – Emerald City Trapeze Arts. Here are some pictures from before the show.

Here are videos of Camille and Sarah’s performance. I had a bit of trouble as there was ambient light coming in from the windows and the mirror behind the performance space caused the autofocus of the video camera to focus on the farthest object, some beams in the mirror, rather than the girls. Sorry.

You know how parents say their kids are monkeys. Well, our kid really is. Camille is performing the Three Little Monkeys and the Big, Bad Banana with the Aerialistas and Circus Contraption. Last night was the dress rehearsal.

Skiing with Lucy and Camille

It had snowed on Thursday and many patients cancelled their appointments on the following day. In a desire to ski, I spontaneously decided to invite my kids who were spending the day with another family to come with me. Camille said yes, but only if her friend Lucy, who had skis, but had never skiied before, could come. Daniel said no, he’d rather stay and play with Pee Wee. So I ended up with two girls, heading up to Cabin Creek at 2 PM for a quick ski trip. It was the first day that they groomed and the groomer was pulling out of the parking lot as we showed up at 3:15. Lucy was a trooper and did wonderfully for her first day skiing.

The conditions were fabulous. It was partly sunny, cold, and calm. The snow cover was awesome, and the grooming quite good.

My daughter Camille makes me so proud sometimes. Watching her athletic pursuits is no exception. She tries so hard! Watch the smile on her face on this video, even as she dumps her unicycle. She impresses me so much.
