We made it to Wallace Island. It’s relatively small, but is mostly a marine park. At some point, a reckless and bold American David Conover lived there, raised a family, and ran a resort. He wrote a series of books about it.
- Wallace Island hut with boat names on driftwood
- close-up of driftwood carvings
- Santosha in Princess Cove with the admiral
- The admiral in Princess Cove
- boats in Princess Cove
- tide pools outside Princess Cove
- driving the red truck!
- red truck in the field
- sitting a bit low while driving with a life jacket on
- Dinghy Captain Daniel explores the tide pools
- getting wet on a hot day
- raising the spinnaker
- up she goes!
- filling the chute
(addendum) The son of the resort owner, a Davey Conover, contacted me. See the comments below. How wonderful it is to have a person contact you, out of the blue, who grew up on the island and knows its history. I think it’s great to have a connection to the history of Wallace Island, which I find fascinating.
