Dance Recital

Camille joined her bff Kasey in dance camp this summer. Chloe Davenport put on a good camp, allowing the kids to create their own performance, but sneaking in plenty of dance lessons.

Roche Harbor – 2010
August 19th, 2010 · No Comments
Roche Harbor is a mix of many things. The extremely wealthy boaters are always here, their multimillion dollar yachts parked on the dock, drinks in hand, hair coiffed just so, and dressed to the nines. The more average Joe (ourselves very much included) is also here taking their first shower in many days, buying groceries, [...]

Cabbage Island
August 18th, 2010 · No Comments
One of the most delightful surprises on this trip was discovering Cabbage Island. It is a lovely Marine Park on the Strait of Georgia side of Saturna Island. Camille found a friend and that really brightened her day. It had a sand beach (rare in the islands). We also hit it on a hot day. All [...]
Wallace Island

We made it to Wallace Island. It’s relatively small, but is mostly a marine park. At some point, a reckless and bold American David Conover lived there, raised a family, and ran a resort. After crossing into Canada, we progressed past Bedwell Harbor to Winter Cove. It was hot and 75% of us went swimming. Daniel pushes his mother to the edge and beyond. Dad follows suit.

Montague Harbor
August 15th, 2010 · No Comments
After Winter Cove, we progressed to Ganges Harbor to provision, pump out, and have shore leave. We elected to not spend the night and move on to Montague Hbr. We initially anchored among the hordes, but eventually left that nutso crowd and moved to the north with good searoom.

Sucia Island 2010
August 13th, 2010 · No Comments
From Matia Island, we sailed all of three miles to the nearby larger and more popular Sucia Island. I wanted to sail on, but the crew was unhappy with the upwind bashing they were taking. So, I relented. We ended up in Fossil Bay, which was plenty windy, but protected from its large blasts from [...]
Matia Island
August 12th, 2010 · No Comments
I have fond memories of being in the unnamed southeast cove on Matia Island. When Molly and I had a Catalina 22 (think crude camping in a floating plastic bucket), we spent two very pleasant days and nights here in the mid-1990s. The wind blew from the northwest and we were completely protected. If I [...]
