Hello All -
I am inviting you to vicariously experience a Seattle phenomenon – the Fremont Summer Solstice Parade. There are a few rules: (1) no printed words or logos (2) no motor vehicles (except wheelchairs) (3) no animals (except aid animals). It’s a wacky affair. There is a strong incentive to be exceptional. Floats are usually creative; the story is not always clear, which causes one to ponder. Fertility and celebrating summer are common themes, as is liberal politics and general wackiness.
One is left to wonder what the naked bicyclists represent exactly. But, nonetheless, they are an integral and growing part of the parade. There is a fine line between art and lewd, and the kids found at least one penis wagger who crossed the line into the latter.
