We managed to drag our 15 year-old niece Kiara away from Southern California for a visit. (a pre-paid plane ticket helped.) Here is a brief pictorial summary of her visit.
She was pleasant and polite. She deferred to her cousins and was gracious. We’d have her back again, if her friends and family won’t miss her [...]

Seen in the large locks
June 22nd, 2009 · No Comments
Yesterday, two grand old motor vessels entered the large locks. One was the Olympus, 93 feet of well maintained beauty.
The other was the Westward. Both were a lot of fun to see.
Camille and I stood admiring them for a while, until Camille’s short attention span dragged me off.

She was returned to us on Sunday night looking absolutely exhausted – perhaps like you’d see after sleep away camp. Her absence profoundly changed the family [...]

We took off late on Saturday. Camille was tied up, so Dan had two parents to himself. We sailed to Blake Island in a fresh breeze – 6 knots upwind! Dan throws rocks on the beach. It is lovely.
