Spirit bounds from the water after retrieving a stick. I finally convinced her to retrieve a stick from deep water, this simultaneously solving several problems: how to teach her to swim, how to teach her to retrieve, and how to get her the exercise she desperately needs. I’ll have to reinforce this behavior, but I think I can get her to live up to the Labrador retriever reputation. At 2, she should have come with these skills, but sadly she did not.
