There appears to be boat in our future. On a trip to Cama Beach, Molly suggested that an inheritance that I was about to receive would better utilized improving my mood by buying a sailboat (a long term goal of mine) than investing in a rental property (a more recent and ultimately more practical goal of mine).
Keith, a good friend of mine, and I mulled this over. Despite frequent interruptions to parent small children (his are 2 and 5, mine are 6 and 8), we found much common ground. As I sat on the seawall, I lamented that I’d rather be on the sailboats that I watched than on the beach.
So, slowly, we have begun the search for a compatible vessel. Keith favors heavier, pilot-house style yachts. I favor lighter, faster sailboats.
Amazingly, we found common ground in this – a 1982 O’Day 34. We made a reasonable offer that was rejected because the owner was overly attached to it (read-he didn’t know the real price of it).
