We took a last minute trip to Lake Chelan last weekend. We were supposed to be camping at Skamokawa, but rain threatened and Molly suggested going east. We booked a lakefront apartment at Kelly’s Resort. It’s an older resort with many cabins and 150 feet or so of lakefront property.
While we were there, there was an eightieth birthday party for the matriarch of the family. I was told that the property for the resort was a gift to her and her husband from her parents some 60 years prior. Together, the four of them established the resort and developed it. Now it is run by the matriarch’s son, Jeff. But his kids don’t want to take on the challenge and are encouraging him to sell it when he retires.
