We had dinner here at Hapa Izakaya.  It was a hip Japanese fusion restaurant.  According to the menu, “Hapa” means ‘half’ and “Izakaya” is a type of Tokyo restaurant.  The food was excellent, including the pork belly on steamed buns.

We took a jaunt up to Vanouver for the weekend.  The children were left overnight, perhaps for only the third time in their lives, in the care of others.  In this case, it was Molly’s father and his partner Carolyne who generously offered to come up so we could get a weekend away.

Dan and I took a short hike in the Cascades to Talapus Lake.  It was Thursday, a “Daddy day”.  Dan asked some inquisitive questions on the way there and that led to a longer discussion about genetics and recessive and dominant traits.  He’s such an inqusitive child.
